# Fresh Start

Clear selected planning data without deleting your Ellie account.

Fresh Start clears selected planning data while keeping your Ellie account, settings, calendars, and connected accounts in place. It is useful when you want a clean workspace without deleting your account.

## Availability

Fresh Start is available in Ellie on the web and in the desktop apps. It is not currently available in the iPhone or iPad app.

## Choose what to remove

1. Open **Settings → Account Data**.
2. Find **Fresh Start** and choose **Configure**.
3. Select the kinds of data you want Ellie to delete.

You can choose each category independently:

| Data            | What Fresh Start removes                              |
| --------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| Tasks           | Your personal tasks and their task attachments        |
| Lists           | Personal lists and list pointers on tasks that remain |
| Labels          | Labels and label references in data that remains      |
| Recurring tasks | Recurring-task rules                                  |
| Task templates  | Saved task templates                                  |

## Review before deleting

1. Choose **Review fresh start**.
2. Read the preview showing how many items will be deleted.
3. Check whether the preview says any Notion or Todoist mappings will stop syncing.
4. Type `FRESH START` exactly.
5. Choose **Start fresh** only when the preview matches what you intend to remove.

Ellie reloads after the operation completes.

## What stays

Fresh Start keeps your Ellie account and sign-in, app settings, connected calendars, and connected accounts. A connected account can remain connected even when an individual mapping stops because the list or data behind that mapping was removed.

## Fresh Start versus deleting your account

Fresh Start keeps the account and lets you choose which planning data to clear. **Delete Account** removes the account and all of its data instead.

If you only need a backup or want to move data elsewhere, use **Settings → Account Data → Export Data** instead.
